BEST PRACTICE :
Ironing should be placed in the bag provided and folded as neatly as possible, if you require further bags, they will be provided
Ironing should be within reason, freshly laundered, damp but not wet - we realise that this is difficult to achieve but if ironing is too dry although we use the latest steam generators, we will not be able to produce good results. The items should then be folded as soon as possible after drying to avoid further creasing. Garments prepared for pick-up should be placed in an upstairs room, garage or similar so as not to take on the everyday smells of cooking, smoke etc
If your ironing has 'built up' and consequently was washed more than a week ago, please freshen it up on a short wash cycle - it is quite amazing when the steam hits garments washed some time ago how any stale odours are lifted to the forefront and lingers which in turn, makes the ironed garments when returned to you really not nice !!
Not to mention that 'stale' garments or garments tainted with cooking odours etc, are really not very pleasant to for the ironer to iron !
We iron most everyday items but for obvious reasons we do not handle:
Silk
Suits (mens or ladies)
Tailored Formal Jackets with shoulder pads (mens or ladies)
Evening Dresses / Ball Gowns
Wedding Dresses
Curtains
Extremely Delicate Items
We check all items given to us and if we have an item and the care label reads ‘Dry Clean Only’ we will return the item un-ironed and a label will be attached explaining why. This also applies to any item found to have marks or stains on them
If you are unsure about a particular item, please inform the person who collects your ironing and they will decide if it should be taken
Bed linen fares well in our hands as we use an ironing press for these but king size or larger duvet covers and also embellished, pleated etc cannot successfully be pressed and have to be steam ironed
Concerning fitted sheets, as you know, it is virtually impossible to iron these to perfection !
Valance sheets present a particular problem, not in the ironing (which is easy) but in the folding. Once unfolded there will almost certainly be creases where you don't want them !
If you have particularly intricate duvet covers (pleated, bows, envelope, box etc), due to the time taken to iron, these items may be charged item by item as opposed to being weighed with the rest of your collection
We suggest that the plastic covers are removed promptly after delivery to help eliminate any odour the covers may have picked up in storage or transportation (plastic is notorious for this) and then transferring that odour onto the freshly ironed garments
ALL hangers, protective covers and collecting bags must be returned when your next load of ironing is collected
